Our Cellar Door
At long last Gemtree has a cellar door so when you visit McLaren Vale you can come and say g'day and taste our wines.
After years of being badgered, the Director of Golf finally gave the go ahead to open our first cellar door at the renowned regional restaurant the Salopian Inn, with our great mates, the boys from Dowie Doole.
The Salopian Inn, on the main road from McLaren Vale to Willunga, was built in 1851 and originally used as a coach stop for resting horses on the journey down from Adelaide.
Together, we have renovated the front rooms of this historical sandstone building, creating a stunning modern space with a courtyard overlooking the rolling vineyards toward the Willunga Escarpment (Hills).
In a first for McLaren Vale, visitors are invited to experience our unique wine flight program, which, for a small charge, gives you the choice of different flights of wines to taste, enabling you to compare and contrast the best of what Gemtree and Dowie Doole have to offer.
Whilst you relax at a table looking out over vineyards, our Cellar Door Manager, Linda, will guide you through a structured tasting of 5 wines together with a plate of regional cheese and lavosh.
The Salopian Inn restaurant next door is renown for outstanding fresh regional produce and the full range of Gemtree and Dowie Doole wines may be enjoyed with your meal.
While you're in cellar door you can join our '1851 Club', a mail order club which will give you first offer of special releases, events, winemaker's notes and for Gemtree customers, 10% off all Australian mail order sales of 6 bottles or more, both via our website or directly from cellar door.
At our cellar door, friendly and knowledgeable local hosts are always available to advise, discuss and inform you about our wines, wineries, food and the glorious McLaren Vale region.
It all adds up to a great experience!
