Technical Details:
- The Wine
Best of southern Rhone, best of Spain and the best of Australia. Majority grenache, the world's most underrated variety! Exciting wine.
- Colour
- Deep blood red with purple/black hue.
- Nose
- Black currants, creamy oak, raspberry conserve, dark plums.
- Palate
- Rich, textured and multi-layered. Cherries and plums consume the entire front to mid palate, the wine quickly curls under itself and is restrained by dusty tannins that dominate the back palate. The 07 is powerful and inverted; where as the 03-06 were all very open upon release and this encourages me to recommend longer cellaring than previous years. This wine needs time and air! A second tasting done 5 days later on the same open bottle shows a truly remarkable wine. Rich mulberries and cream with a luscious-back palate that finishes with fine grain tannin.
- Cellaring
- 5 – 12 years.
- Vintage Notes
Grenache: best of Southern Rhone, Tempranillo: best of Rioja and Shiraz: best of Australia. Grenache provides the aromatics and sweetness of flavour, the tempranillo gives the funk and tannin profile and the shiraz chimes in with the depth and class which cements this wine as a Gemtree favourite. The 2007 Cadenzia is a class act and concretes our vision of 5 years ago that this style works.
